What is the Shared Smart Inbox

The Workist Shared Smart Inbox lets employees connect shared Microsoft Outlook mailboxes and automatically classifies incoming emails, including Orders, Requests for Quotation (RFQs), Invoices and Order Confirmations (OC) helping teams work more efficiently.

To provide this functionality, the application requires a small set of Microsoft Graph permissions.

Below, we explain what each permission allows and why it is needed.

Permissions Requested

Smart Inbox requires the following Microsoft Graph permissions to read and classify emails while ensuring all processing remains limited to the mailboxes explicitly connected.

1. Read and write access to the shared mailboxes mail

Permission: Mail.ReadWrite

This is the primary permission Smart Inbox relies on. It enables Workist to process emails in the shared mailboxes Inbox.

Why we need it:

• To read incoming emails
• To classify emails as Order or Request for Quotation (RFQ)
• To apply actions to the email (like move to folder, mark as read) so the user sees the classification directly in Outlook

2. Read and write user mailbox settings

Permission: MailboxSettings.ReadWrite

This permission allows Workist to read mailbox-level configuration and metadata that is required to correctly identify and validate connected mailboxes.
